April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among the few female beach volleyball players that have achieved this feat. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross Tokyo to win her third gold medal in the next couple of days. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. And at the age of 39 this may be her last chance to achieve it. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross was quoted by NBC Boston as saying that If you put in your best, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. It's also going to be a matter of chance. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her mother, father and sister. She was able to participate in numerous activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she was a basketball player and also ran track as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she stood out during this game. As per her biography her high school days, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). Gatorade Circle of Champions named her as the National Player of 1999. In 2000, she received an Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Even though Ross Klineman and Ross have been doing their thing since 2017, the former had already been a major player on the beach scene prior to their team. It's true that she has won numerous tournaments, including one with an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 to 2013. She also coached Klineman as well as herself. Together with Kessy Ross was an ace in the world circuit, winning the world championship in 2009. The duo would go into winning a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary duo comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. The pair were awarded bronze medals at the Rio Olympics for beach volleyball. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC in high school. It was a long time before Ross went to the beach and became a pro. She had a great run in the NCAA tournament. Her freshman year in 2000 earned her the Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the award and become an All-American. She was also one of the key players for helping the Trojans to make it to their way to the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, yet was able to achieve the All-American title. In her last two years of participation in the Trojans team, she led the Trojans to winning a national title each year. Her individual achievements have cemented her status as a legend in volleyball. She was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross who was a USC international relations student was a star in volleyball. Margie Ross wasn't able to witness her daughter's rise to fame as a beach volleyball player. Ross suffered the loss of the breast cancer that she battled in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. She continues to keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie has inspired her both in her personal life and at the beach.
